Welcome to my website. Thank you for visiting.
My name is Frances Lichtman and I have served as your Isabella County Commissioner representing District 7 for the past six years. Residents of District 7 enjoy the vibrant community near the Central Michigan University campus, in close proximity to city parks and local businesses.
Isabella County government is responsible for services that touch our lives daily. It has an operating budget of over 17 million dollars, and provides services and information such as recording of births, deaths, and property transfers. It issues passports and marriage licenses. It supports our jail and courts, and is responsible for county planning and development as well as emergency preparedness. It sponsors the county park system and programs for senior citizens.
Despite Michigan’s weak economy, Isabella County continues to grow. Your county government has been able to accommodate this growth due to its prudent fiscal management. Our new Commission on Aging facility, new recycling programs, and improvements to our county parks indicate that Isabella County continues to thrive. I am pleased to have contributed to this positive momentum.
We have also made major strides in making our county government more open and accountable with timely information available on our county website. Now citizens can not only see minutes of our past meetings, but also view agendas and staff reports before the meetings take place.
Challenges remain. Rapid growth in the county has strained the law enforcement capabilities of the Sheriff’s Department. The continuing decrease in state funding for county services will likely require some reorganization of county operations in the near future.
With your support on November 4th, I will work to meet these challenges and to improve the quality of life for all residents in Isabella County.
Sincerely,
